Famous historical myths re-enacted by wooden puppets and colorful dragons on the stage are water. Water puppetry is a traditional stage that cannot be ignored in Vietnam in general and especially in Hanoi. Although the story is entirely in Vietnam, the music and gestures of the wooden puppet can still convey the story content to all objects, so the theater is always crowded with domestic and foreign visitors.

Thang Long Water Puppet Theater located in the Old Quarter area, established in 1969 and is one of the most famous water puppet show venues in Vietnam. This unique puppet originates around the 11th century, in the Red River waters around Hanoi. Having to say that, the Thang Long Water Puppet Theater is one of the most active traditional puppet theater and the lacquer wooden puppets of the theater have become famous throughout the world. Since 1990 the theater has regularly held international tours and has participated in many art festivals around the world.

The theater is open all day of the week and up to 6 performances per day. There are also English subtitles on the screen for international audiences.
