Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – My Tho – Cai Be

“Good Morning Saigon”Bid farewell to the hustle and bustle of Saigon as we travel 70 kilometers south by land to My Tho to embark boutique ship. We will be served a refreshing welcome drink as the ship steadily glides along the Mekong. We will bathe in the fading sunset on the balcony followed by a briefing at the lounge. Later, a welcome dinner awaits us.

When approaching Cai Be, the ship drops anchor to moor midstream where the river is several kilometers wide.

Day 2: Cai Be – Sa Dec – Tan Chau

Everyday, our journey starts with an invigorating Tai Chi lesson on the sun deck just as the sun begins its gentle glow. Coffee and tea awaits the early bird.The day-tour starts with a visit to Cai Be’s boisterous and colorful floating market on a traditional sampan (a flat bottomed traditional Vietnamese wooden boat). During the ride, discover breathtaking landscapes along the river and quaff the rustic life on the Mekong Delta. The cruise will halt intermittently to allow us to observe how rice paste, rice paper, rice cookies, rice pop, rice wine and coconut candies are made, enjoy local life along the canals on the way back to the Ship for lunch.

In the afternoon, we cruise to Sa Dec. Upon arrival, we embark a traditional sampan to tour Binh Thanh Island to visit an untouchable

village. Here, every villager is involved in the process of making rattan mat and this give us the chance to interact with the old local

people. We then board the Ship for a tranquil evening cruise towards Tan Chau.

Day 3: Tan Chau – Border crossing – Phnom Penh

Welcome to the fish sanctuary of Vietnam. Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at the Dining Hall of your balcony. Brace yourselffor a short excursion in Tan Chau, a pleasant town near the Cambodian border with sizeable Chinese, Kinh and Khmer community.

Firstly, the journey takes you to the “evergreen” islands where you will be thrilled to learn the life of the locals.

The inhabitants of these islands live on houses poised on high stilts – a centuries-old tradition in this part of the Mekong Delta.

We stop to visit a fish farm located in the Tan Chau canal – this farm consists of floating houses and the villagers make their living by

cultivating fish. You continue by boat to Tan Chau pier, disembark here and stroll around this colorful local market with lots of

regional products. You return to the cruise Ship after your market visit.

Day 4: Phnom Penh

“Pearl of the East”Off we go early in the morning to witness a truly indescribable scene while approaching Phnom Penh’s river promenade. Sadly, after breakfast, it is time to disembark the cruise.

5 Days 4 Nights

Day 1: Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh was once the Paris of the East. Despite its rapid development, it has retained a lot of its rustic charm and elegance. After breakfast, we will be captivated by a comprehensive lecture on Cambodias modern history. This will be followed by a city tour of this dynamic, historical capital city of Cambodia which has managed to preserve huge slices of its French colonial allure. Sightseeing in the morning will include visiting the dazzling white and gold edifice of the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, and witnessing exceptionally beautiful Khmer craft at the National Museum.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we will visit the Genocide Museum and the Killing Field in town. Be prepared to be heart wrenched by this stark reminder of the genocide that transpired during Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge regime.

We go back to the ship after our museum visit. Take a rest on your cabin balcony or the lounge and get prepared for an exciting evening event. The evening starts with a variety of cocktail served on the sun deck. Take a seat and enjoy the following Apsara dance performance. Experience the brilliance and richness of this culture, the soothing sounds of traditional music, the calming scent of incense sticks and a barbeque on the sundeck. It is indeed a truly marvelous experience, dining in the open with the stars and the moon as our companions.

Day 2: Phnom Penh – Kampong Chang – Silversmith Village

Before the sun peeks over the horizon, the cruiser sets sail towards Kampong Chhnang (we leave Phnom Penh after midnight) and the Tonle Sap River – an amazingly narrow river – which glides through leafy swaths of the Southeast Asian jungle. We are greeted by cacophonous children who waive enthusiastically early in the morning when they bring their livestock for a bath in the meandering Tonle Sap River.

Then we approach Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia’s “waterworld” where everything is on stilts balanced on rich water rich soil- it’s an awesome sight whilst practising Tai Chi on the deck.

Here we take a motorboat excursion to the landing, followed by a short bus trip to see the Khmer-styled pottery at the Aundaung Russey village. Then, it is back to the river for an adventurous motorboat excursion to the wetlands, floating houses and fish farms in the region.

We then return to the ship for lunch whilst cruising the narrow and meandering Tonle Sap. We will cruise toward Prek K’dam where we will take a walk through the silversmith village of Koh Chen where the entire community of villagers are involved in making various silver items for sale.

Back onboard, the ship sails back towards Phnom Penh again and will moor for overnight midstream near Phnom Penh

Day 3: Kampong Cham

We will depart before the break of dawn from Phnom Penh with a stop at the little known Chong Koh silk weaving village. We will then return to the ship and will cruise past the Mekong’s tranquil villages, exhilirating river life and sun-hardened fishermen on their make shift boats.

We will tour the rural Angkor Ban village where time stood still. We are transported back a hundred years into an era unsullified by modernity. The houses here are truly rustic, made by hand and without any concrete. But most of all, we feel overwhelmed by the unbridled warmth of the villagers.

Travelers can take part in the daily activities of the villagers to experience village life first hand. Then, we are back to the ship to cruise towards Kampong Cham.

Day 4: Wat Hanchey – Kampong Cham

We will wake up in the small hours of the morning, truly energized to embark on a land journey to the pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Hanchey. Travelers either take a motor-taxi or climb the 291 steps to the top. Located at the top of a hill overlooking the river, it offers one of the most breath-taking views in Cambodia. Built in the 8th century, this ancient structure, together with a bigger and newer addition underscores the superb architecture of the Chenla Empire which predates the mighty Angkor temple complex. We even get to engage in light banter with some of the monks in the area. We will return to the ship to witness a blessing ceremony performed by orange-clad local monks.

When the tide allows, we will enjoy a surprise sojourn in our zodiacs (inflatable boats) to the nearby beach to swim in the tea-colored Mekong River, an experience that will, no doubt, dominate dinner conversations in the weeks to come.

We will then cruise towards Kampong Cham to visit Wat Nokor, a wat built within the ruins of an ancient temple which holds a timeless story. On the way back to the ship, we will visit an orphanage. Along the way, we will have to maneuver a 2-kilometer rickety bamboo bridge. Our sense of balance lies in the balance.

Day 5: Kampong Cham – Siem Reap

We will disembark the ship at after breakfast and boarding a coach at 9:00am for a transfer from Kampong Cham to the drop off point in Siem Reap. We get to munch on snacks and enjoy cold drinks along the journey. We will stop briefly at Skon, known as Spiderville for its fried spiders, a delicacy in this country then we will arrive in Siem Reap in the early afternoon.

The Angkor Ban village is famous for its unspoiled community and beautiful, traditional houses. It feels like being transported back a hundred years into an era unaffected by modernity. Villagers characterize an unbridled warmth. Back on board our staff is keen to show you a variety of traditional Khmer fashion. Lunch is served after this performance. We cruise further up the Mekong to visit a local school to understand more about the education of the young Cambodian generation (NGO project). The children here are always excited to show their skills in music and art and will bathe you in smiles upon your applause. We continue to travel by road to the enchanting pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Hanchey (7th century). This small complex sits on a hill top right on the shore with breath-taking views on the Mekong. Another temple on the way is the tiny, colorful monastery of Wat Nokor. Here we might get the chance to engage in light banter with some of the monks living in the area. Relax back on board until dinner is served. The boat moors mid-river near Kampong Cham.

Low Water Cruise 

Before the sun peeks over the horizon, the cruiser sets sail towards Kampong Tralach on the Tonle River – an amazingly narrow river. Gently gliding through leafy swaths of this jungle-like landscape we reach Kampong Tralach. Breakfast is served before we moor and get ready for our first Tonle discovery. We reach the shore by local boat and cacophonous children wave enthusiastically while bringing their livestock for a bath in the meandering river. We will stop at the “Green School” which is supported in part by Heritage Line. Travel to see all this life, which is so much different than ours – by a local ox cart ride. Back on board our staff is keen to show you a variety of traditional Khmer fashion. Lunch is served after this performance. The ship cruises along the narrow and meandering Tonle River towards Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia’s “water world”, where everything is on sticks balanced on water-rich soil. This is perhaps the most fascinating cruise locale in Cambodia. Back on land in Kampong Chhnang we take mini buses heading to a rural village nearby and go on a walking tour. Our guides introduce the village specialities – Khmer style pottery and the making of palm sugar. Before returning to the boat we explore the local floating villages and wetlands of the region. Day 7: Kampong Chhnang – Tonle Lake/ Kampong Cham (Mekong)

High Water Cruise 

Kampong Chhnang – Tonle Lake

Wake up early to witness the spectacular surroundings at the break of dawn. Our moring Tai Chi class has the perfect backdrop today. Breakfast is served in the dinig hall. We are now at Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia’s “water world”, where everything is on sticks balanced on water-rich soil. This is perhaps the most fascinating cruise locale in Cambodia. We take a local boat to the shore. With mini buses we head to a rural village nearby and go on a walking tour. Our guides introduce the village specialities – Khmer style pottery and the making of palm sugar. Definitely you should bring some home. Before returning to the boat we explore the local floating villages and wetlands of the region. Back on board lunch is served as your floating sanctuary cruises gently along the narrow and meandering Tonle, towards the Great Tonle Lake. The river opens up to a vast “sea”, the biggest fresh water lake in Asia. This lake can only be crossed during high water season (approx. from end-July to mid-November). Let your soul float and your eyes wander while the boat makes its way towards Siem Reap. In the afternoon we serve a high tea at the bar and as the sun sets, our crew invites you for a farewell event. Before dinner enjoy some dancing and music together with the crew. After breakfast we are going by bus to visit the enchanting pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Hanchey, built in the 7th century. This small complex sits on a hill top right on the shore with breath taking views of the Mekong. We return to the ship for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon we head for another outing and drive to the the tiny, colorful monastery of Wat Nokor. Here we might get the chance to engage in light banter with some of the monks living in the area. As it is low water season we can see a bamboo bridge which connects the mainland with the island. Local communities re-build the bridge every year when water levels drop. The Tonle Sap (The Great Lake) is the flowing heart of Cambodia, giving love and life to millions of people. It has more fish than any other lake in the world and is home to an incredible variety of birds, including rare and endangered feathered life. Our Heritage Line cruise comes to an end. We prepare to disembark the ship and take a local boat to the shore, passing a vast floating community. Around nine o’clock, we arrive at the Siem Reap pier and bring you to the drop off point in the city center. We hope that you enjoyed this fascinating river just as our crew does every single time. Enjor your last breakfast on board our floating sanctuary. We disembark the ship after you have checked out for a transfer by bus to the drop off point in Siem Reap. The transfer takes about 4.5 hours. Snacks are provided during the trip. You arrive in Siem Reap in the early afternoon. Day 2: Cu Chi Tunnel – Ho Chi Minh day tour

8:00: Welcome tourist at hotel leave for Cu Chi Tunnels – played a vital part in the U.S.-Vietnam War in that they allowed the Viet Cong to control a large rural area only 30 to 40 km from former Saigon . At its height, the tunnel system stretched from Saigon to the Cambodian border. The network, parts of which were several levels deep, included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centres and kitchens.

Visit and explore Cu Chi Tunnel – become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and feel of what underground life during the war must have been like. The tunnels have been widened for our benefit (otherwise we would not be able to enter them!) For those interested there’s even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range.

At about 11:00, the driver will take you back to the city. Enjoy your lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, you will have a chance to discover the Ho Chi Minh city tour through the visits of war museum – primarily contains exhibits relating to the American phase of the Vietnam War, china town – Chinese-influenced section of Ho Chi Minh City (former Saigon), having Binh Tay Market as its central market.

Welcome to the fish sanctuary of Vietnam. Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at the Indochine Dining Hall or in the quiet sanctuary of your balcony. Brace yourself for a short excursion in Chau Doc, a pleasant town near the Cambodian border with sizeable Chinese, Kinh and Khmer communities. Firstly, the journey takes you to the “evergreen” islands where you will be thrilled to learn the life of the locals.

The inhabitants of these islands live on houses poised on high stilts – a centuries-old tradition in this part of the Mekong Delta.

We stop to visit a fish farm located in the Tan Chau canal – this farm consists of floating houses and the villagers make their living by cultivating fish. You continue by boat to Tan Chau pier, disembark here and stroll around this colorful local market with lots of regional products. You return to the cruise Ship after your market visit.

Day 6: Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh was once the Paris of the East. Despite its rapid development, it has retained a lot of its rustic charm and elegance. After breakfast, we will be captivated by a comprehensive lecture on Cambodias modern history. This will be followed by a city tour of this dynamic, historical capital city of Cambodia which has managed to preserve huge slices of its French colonial allure. Sightseeing in the morning will include visiting the dazzling white and gold edifice of the Cambodia’s Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, and witnessing exceptionally beautiful Khmer craft at the National Museum.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we will visit the Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields in town. Be prepared to be heart wrenched by this stark reminder of the genocide that transpired during Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge regime.

We go back to the ship after our museum visit. Take a rest on your cabin balcony or the lounge and get prepared for an exciting evening event. The evening starts with a variety of cocktail served on the sun deck. Take a seat and enjoy the following Apsara dance performance. Experience the brilliance and richness of this culture, the soothing sounds of traditional music, the calming scent of incense sticks and a barbeque on the sundeck. It is indeed a truly marvelous experience, dining in the open with the stars and the moon as our companions.

Including breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overnight in Phnom Penh. In the middle of the night around 1am we depart already during a night cruise to Kampong Chnnang. This region is 100km away from Phnom Penh.

Day 7: Phnom Penh – Kampong Chhnang – Silversmith Village

Before the sun peeks over the horizon, the cruiser sets sail towards Kampong Chhnang (we leave Phnom Penh after midnight) and the Tonle Sap River – an amazingly narrow river – which glides through leafy swaths of the Southeast Asian jungle. We are greeted by cacophonous children who waive enthusiastically early in the morning when they bring their livestock for a bath in the meandering Tonle Sap River.

Then we approach Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia’s “waterworld” where everything is on stilts balanced on rich water rich soil- it’s an awesome sight whilst practising Tai Chi on the deck.

Here we take a motorboat excursion to the landing, followed by a short bus trip to see the Khmer-styled pottery at the Aundaung Russey village. Then, it is back to the river for an adventurous motorboat excursion to the wetlands, floating houses and fish farms in the region.

We then return to the ship for lunch whilst cruising the narrow and meandering Tonle Sap. We will cruise toward Prek K’dam where we will take a walk through the silversmith village of Koh Chen where the entire community of villagers are involved in making various silver items for sale.

Back onboard, the ship sails back towards Phnom Penh again and will moor for overnight midstream near Phnom Penh.

Day 8: Kampong Cham

We will depart before the break of dawn from Phnom Penh with a stop at the little known Chong Koh silk weaving village. We will then return to the ship and will cruise past the Mekong’s tranquil villages, exhilirating river life and sun-hardened fishermen on their make shift boats.

We will tour the rural Angkor Ban village where time stood still. We are transported back a hundred years into an era unsullified by modernity. The houses here are truly rustic, made by hand and without any concrete. But most of all, we feel overwhelmed by the unbridled warmth of the villagers.

Travelers can take part in the daily activities of the villagers to experience village life first hand. Then, we are back to the ship to cruise towards Kampong Cham.

Day 9: Wat Hanchey – Kampong Cham

We will wake up in the small hours of the morning, truly energized to embark on a land journey to the pre-Angkorian temple of Wat Hanchey. Travelers either take a motor-taxi or climb the 291 steps to the top. Located at the top of a hill overlooking the river, it offers one of the most breath-taking views in Cambodia. Built in the 8th century, this ancient structure, together with a bigger and newer addition underscores the superb architecture of the Chenla Empire which predates the mighty Angkor temple complex. We even get to engage in light banter with some of the monks in the area. We will return to the ship to witness a blessing ceremony performed by orange-clad local monks.

When the tide allows, we will enjoy a surprise sojourn in our zodiacs (inflatable boats) to the nearby beach to swim in the tea-colored Mekong River, an experience that will, no doubt, dominate dinner conversations in the weeks to come.

We will then cruise towards Kampong Cham to visit Wat Nokor, a wat built within the ruins of an ancient temple which holds a timeless story. On the way back to the ship, we will visit an orphanage. Along the way, we will have to maneuver a 2-kilometer rickety bamboo bridge. Our sense of balance lies in the balance.

Day 10: Kampong Cham – Siem Reap

We will disembark the ship at after breakfast and boarding a coach at 9:00am for a transfer from Kampong Cham to the drop off point in Siem Reap. We get to munch on snacks and enjoy cold drinks along the journey. We will stop briefly at Skon, known as Spiderville for its fried spiders, a delicacy in this country then we will arrive in Siem Reap in the early afternoon.
