Sapa Church ocated in the heart of Sapa town, the church is always a tourism attraction built by French in the early 20th century. The church is on a favorable location with Ham Rong Mountain behind, in front of a large and flat land, enable to develop many cultural works for commune activities. Standing on the four sides, tourists possibly see the monument, along with two other architectural works, Chu Cau Villa (now Hoang Lien Hotel) and the old district committee (now The headquarters of the Lao Cai Tourism Information Center) forming a symmetrical triangular structure with a distinct French style. Unique architecture combining with harmony among different tribe people cultures bring the unique beauty for this place. The structure and architecture of the church were built according to the Gotic Roman. The architecture shown in the roof, bell tower, arch … are the pyramid shape for the elegant construction. Especially, the entire church is built of hewn stone (wall, floor, bell tower, church yard, surrounding embankment) are linked together by a mixture of sand, lime and molasses. The wall of the right side of the crucifix is as the stalactites flow down to enhance the natural beauty of the church.
With a total area of over 6,000 square meters, Sa Pa Church has enough space for the layout of the area including: church, parish, house of priest, animal husbandry, angel house, front yard, fence, Holy Garden. The parish is built in parallel with the church of five compartments. Angels include: a basement, three upper compartments are places to cure sick people, overnight travelers, corral area, sanitation, kitchen, holy garden with two tombs, 5 Khao Vang over a hundred years, of which 4 trees grow on rocks.
