Yen Tu Mountain is a high mountain of the Dong Trieu Mountain chain in northeastern Vietnam. The mountain is located in Thuong Yen Commune, Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh Province. Yen Tu became the center of Buddhism since King Tran Nhan Tong abdicated his throne and mewed, established a unique Buddhist lineage in Vietnam. There are many historical relics preserved of Buddhism, which made this place become a famous spiritual tourist site in Quang Ninh.
Mountain trails will be an exciting experience for those who love hiking and workout with a total length of about 6,000 meters across thousands of steps. In addition to walking, you can also take a cable car. Sitting in the cable car watching from above, sometimes covered by clouds, you feel like you are going through the clouds hanging.
The beauty of Yen Tu mountain is the wonder of mountains combined with many ancient features of temples, springs and statues. Annually, there is a Spring Festival on Yen Tu Mountain usually held from January 10 to March (lunar calendar). Going to Yen Tu during the festival will be crowded, on other days, Yen Tu is quiet with fresh air.
According to the ancient legend, when King Tran Nhan Tong came to the Buddha’s realm, many of the royal courtesans came to beg him to return to the palace. But King Tran Nhan Tong had a heart of refusal to follow the Buddha, the girls bowed down to the stream to suicide. Embracing the hearts of the ladies, the king has constructed a temple, from which the stream was named League of Justice.
Through the League of Justice stream is Hoa Yen Pagoda, Hoa Yen Pagoda has many other names such as Phu Van Pagoda, Van Yen Pagoda … Until early 2007, the construction of the Dong (Bronze) Pagoda was completed. From here, you can see the vast landscape of the sky as beautiful as a water painting.
For some people, coming to Yen Tu is to admire the wonderful masterpiece of the ancestors. Others will come to Yen Tu to enjoy the fresh air, and to be in harmony with feng shui scene. For foreigners and young people, Yen Tu is also a place to challenge their strength to conquer nature.
