Vietnamese Beef Noodle soup (Phở Bò) is one of popular food in Vietnam. The origin of Vietnamese Beef Noodle soup originated in northern Vietnam in the early 20th century and then became popular in Vietnam and many parts of the world after the Vietnam War. Vietnamese Beef Noodle soup is the combination of broth, rice noodles (Bánh Phở), some kinds of herbs, and beef or chicken. Vietnamese Beef Noodle soup is garnished with coriander leaves, green onions, and white onions.Below is the step-by-step recipe to make your perfect Vietnamese Beef Noodle (Phở Bò).

Ingredients for broth:
• ½ kg chopped beef or pork bones
• 150g beef cuts (cheek)
• 1.5L cold water
• 20g sliced root ginger
• 4-5 cloves garlic
• 3 peeled shallots then cut in half)
• 2- 3 star anise
• 3 small pieces of cinnamon stick
• 2-3 tablespoons of fish sauce
Ingredients for serving:
• 300g sliced beef steak
• 200g fine rice noodles (Bánh Phở)
• 2 tablespoons of sliced spring onion
• 2 tablespoons of chopped small red chilies
• 100g beansprouts
• 120g sweet basil, peppermint and coriander leaves
• 3-4 slices of lemon
Directions:
• Put all slices of root ginger, onions, and shallots in a pan. Heat it and stir all ingredients until they become blackened.
• Add the above ingredients to a pot of water. Then add the beef bones and cheek in. Boil them for 10mintues at least. Reduce heat and simmer the mixture for 3-4 hours and then skim off any scum.
• Slice beef cheek thinly.
• Add Bánh Phở into boiling water for a few seconds.
• Drain Bánh Phở and then divide them into each bowl.
• Place slices of beef into bowls, and then fill them with the hot broth.
• Sprinkle the food with chopped cilantro, red chili, and onion slices.
The characteristic of Vietnamese traditional food is often served with lots of herbs (Thai basil, Culantro), bean sprouts and various other accompaniments, hot chili sauce, hoisin sauce and a slice of lemon.
