The first impression about the museum is its special architecture from France by the sophisticated design of the talented architect, Delaval, from 1926 to 1928. Originally the museum was intended as a building used by the Institute of Expo, however, eventually choose this place for displaying performances of soldiers from the past. For that reason, today, the Vietnam History Museum is one of the most favorite places in Ho Chi Minh city because of its unique design style, Indochina innovation. The main part of the architecture is an octagonal block that is the reminiscent image of the concept from France, with two roofs decorated with gilded ornaments and stylized dragon, the cultural symbol of Vietnam and China. At the top of the pyramid are four smaller and overlapping spheres. Therefore, it is said that the roof of the museum has many elements of ancient Chinese architecture. The museum’s block consists of a main building with an octagonal large hallway, with two wings opening to the garden.
