Established from 1985, Museum of Southern Women located in No. 202 Vo Thi Sau, Ward 7, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City has become the undeniable destination for both domestic and foreign tourists, especially women to visit here because its historical, cultural, and human value maintained for hundred years displaying in many historical relics and proofs.

The Museum of Southern Women covers an area of 2000 m² including 10 galleries on the traditional building preserving the homeland of Southern women. The building of the museum now has four floors, the 800-seat hall, movie theater, library, and archives. Coming to the museum, tourists can blow their mind with the diversity in historical concepts associated with the real descriptions about the Vietnamese women’ life. The gallery is considered as Southern Women in Preserving and Promoting National Cultural Identities, displaying relics of the Vietnamese worship, women’s clothing of ethnic groups in the south, and Vietnamese traditional villages. The book, the revolutionary tradition of the Southern Women, will be the most recognizable results of the museum’s effort on collection of historical materials and artifacts to convey the mysterious beauties of Southern Women of Vietnam from the war.

The museum currently displays 31,360 exhibits, stores 30,431 artifacts in stock, 929 artifacts on display, 16,739 block artifacts and 14,621 films, photographs, scientific supplementary materials. Nearly two third of the materials are revolutionary artifacts, with more than three cultural objects. The artifacts are divided into 24 collections by theme or by material, including 6 collections of rare artifacts. Most artifacts are preserved in accordance with guidelines of the Department of Cultural Heritage in term of particular light, temperature, and humidity. In addition, the library has over 11,000 books related women. The artifacts’ diversity performs the important roles of Southern Vietnamese women on different aspects of Vietnam, from economics, culture, government, education, and so on. Once again, visiting this museum is the opportunity for tourists understanding thoroughly about the hardship of Southern women in the past, their efforts and enthusiasm on Vietnamese independence, then giving more respect and great gratitude to them.
