Overview:

Da Lat city lies in the altitude of 1,500 m above the sea level, and covered by ranges of mountain and forests, therefore Da Lat weather is generally temperate all year round. The temperature is neither higher than 30°C nor lower than 5°C. The average monthly temperature in Da Lat never exceeds 20°C, even in the hottest months. Da Lat has two different seasons including wet season and dry season.

Weather by seasons:

If you have been to Sapa, you will realize that Sapa weather and Da Lat weather are relatively similar in spite of different location. Da Lat also has four seasons in one day: the morning is spring weather, summer weather at noon, cool weather like autumn in the afternoon, and cold winter at night. However, Da Lat weather is still different. Dry season lasts from November to April. Because of the influence of northeast monsoon winds, during dry season, Da Lat has no rains, less clouds with sunny weather in daytime and lower temperature at night. In winter months, average monthly temperature is above 14°C. On the other hand, from May to October, Da Lat weather is affected by the southwest monsoon winds, which bring the humidity to Da Lat and causing heavy rains. In summer, rains often occur in the afternoon, and sometimes hail fall. However, even in rainy season, Da Lat still has some dry periods. The reason is the influence of the tropical air mass of Pacific. Finally, storms never appear in Da Lat which is a strong advantage for Da Lat to attract visitors.

Best time to travel:

Lush green forests and mountains surround Da Lat creating beautiful places here. As being one of the most visited places in Vietnam, tourists can travel Da Lat all the time in a year. However, the best time is considered from October to February (dry season). During these months, the weather is quite cold, but sunny, less rain makes travelling easier. Da Lat in this season is ideal destination for couples’ honeymoons. Here, you and your lover will fall in love with romantic scenery in Love Valley or Liang Bian Mountain. Specially, from late October to early December, tourists may have a chance to join Dalat Flower Festival, which has been organized every two years since 2005. A popular activity in Da Lat is motorbiking; or visitors can hire a cycle and bike through city, which could be a great way to spend a evening to take in local culture and sights. There are also many lovely resorts here so you can relax with your family and friends. In dry season or rainy season, Da Lat is always beautiful and colorful with landscapes and flowers. Therefore, tourists can visit Da Lat in both two seasons and admire its own beauty.
