Saigon Central Post Office, located on Cong Doan street, right opposite Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral, right at the heart of the city, is the ideal destination in the journey to discover the ancient beauty of Vietnam from 19th century. Designed by French architect Gustave Eiffel and completed in 1891, the Saigon Central Post Office is one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in Vietnam. Taking a few minutes to admire the beautiful features of the building from the street outside, tourists will be impressed with the curved window rows, the big clock above the main entrance and red flag yellow stars, the very special characteristics of Vietnamese flag. As soon as walking inside, tourists will be surprised immediately with the high curved ceilings running along the large main arch. The green pillars beneath cover its color over the hall like a color of British railway station in the 20th century. On the walls on either side of the main hall, tourists will find some hand-drawn maps of Saigon and other parts of South Vietnam.
